    DESCRIPTION
In both parts I and II of this workshop we will assemble small “quilt tops” by gluing paper together using painted swatches to simulate colored fabric. On the first day there will be an in depth tutorial on color mixing - no painting experience required.

Workshop I will explore color and design in a series of small studies that may ultimately result in a full sized quilt. Color combinations will begin simply and, as the week moves on, evolve into more complex combinations. Designs will also begin simply and progress toward complexity. By the end of the first week, each student will complete a number of small, but resolved design studies. An important part of this workshop will be the study of quilts, textiles and other pertinent art objects with discussions centering around their formal strengths. The instructor will coach students in the pursuit of their own personal design interests as they work through this series of studies.

Workshop II is a follow up to Workshop I. We will take studies made in the first week and develop them at a larger scale, adjusting, refining and getting them closer to quilt designs that could ultimately be translated into cloth.

These workshops are recommended for anyone with studio experience.
