SUPPLY LIST (Please label your own supplies)

• Small bottle black India ink

• #8 round paint brush (or other similar size) Japanese round brushes are also fine, or a hardware store sponge brush will work

• Sponge

• Candle, incense, and matches

• X-acto knife

• Roll of masking tape

• Cotton or other non plastic string - heavier weight to be glued to blocks for printing

• Several rubber bands

• Hammer and large nail

• Sewing kit with 6 sewing needles with eyes large enough to accommodate embroidery thread

• 1 skein of black and 1 skein of white or off white stranded embroidery thread and some colors of your choice

• 2 cottage cheese or other flat bottomed containers

• 4 pieces of black cotton - 4" x 13"

• 1 piece of bright solid color cotton - 4" x  13 1/2"

• 1 piece of scrap cotton any color - approximately 4" x 36”

• 1/4 yard black cotton that will discharge with bleach (test with a drop of bleach to see if it lightens or changes the color - bleached area may change to brown, red, or off white or other - if it doesn't change, you need to try another black cotton)

• 3' dowel or a yard stick

• You are welcome to bring bookmaking equipment if you have it such as an awl, bone folders, ect.

• A few examples or your work (digital images, slides or other format)

• Please bring a personal collection of materials that might be used in the making of your book. These may include paper, drawings, fabrics you have stitched or dyed, dyes, markers, transparent fabrics, buttons or other objects, photos or photo images on fabric ... bring lots of stuff to have around even if you don't end up using it.

• The materials fee covers paper and other supplies that will be used in class.
